DIKE Mengembangkan Sistem Pembasmi Hama dan Penyakit Tanaman Melalui Udara dengan Memanfaatkan Drone

Peneliti FMIPA UGM mengembangkan inovasi sistem pembasmi hama dan penyakit tanaman melalui udara dengan memanfaatkan pesawat tanpa awak atau drone secara otonom. UGM menyebut inovasi itu untuk mempermudah pembasmian hama di lahan pertanian yang luas.

Dr. Andi Dharmawan menjelaskan, serangan hama dan penyakit tanaman merupakan masalah yang kerap dihadapi petani di Tanah Air, tetapi penanganan hama dan penyakit tanaman tidak bisa dilakukan dengan cepat akibat lahan yang cukup luas dan tersebar.

Dr. Andi dan tim peneliti lainnya dari Program Studi Elektronika dan Instrumentasi Departemen Ilmu Komputer dan Elektronika FMIPA mengembangkan inovasi untuk mengatasi persoalan tersebut dengan mengembangkan sistem pembasmi hama menggunakan drone. UAV juga memiliki kemampuan untuk membawa pestisida yang nantinya akan disemprotkan untuk membasmi hama dan penyakit tanaman.

Sistem pembasmi hama dan tanaman penyakit ini menggunakan edrone, yaitu modul flight controller untuk drone yang dibuat secara mandiri dengan kemampuan terbang secara autonomus. Sistem tersebut dikembangkan dengan memakai pesawat tanpa awak (UAV) berjenis fixed wing.

UAV ini dilengkapi dengan komponen elektronik seperti motor brushless, motor servo, GPS, telemetri, baterai, dan IMU6 DOF. Sedangkan secara mekanik dilengkapi dengan propeler 13 inch, maximum take of weight sebesar 4 kg, serta bodi yang dibuat dari hardfoam. Selain itu dilengkapi pula dengan sebuah flight controller yang merupakan metode kendali Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR). Penggunaan flight controller diperlukan agar UAV (drone) bisa terbang dengan stabil dan menjalankan misi secara otonom.

UAV dapat dimanfaatkan untuk fungsi lain yakni pemetaan penyakit tanaman. Bersama Agus Harjoko, Dr. Andi membuat sistem teknologi pengenalan penyakit dan hama untuk mengidentifikasi berbagai jenis penyakit tanaman.

“Nantinya UAV akan melakukan pemantauan dan pemetaan pada wilayah yang ditentukan. Selanjutnya, hasilnya diproses menggunakan artificial intelligence (AI) untuk mengidentifikasi wilayah yang terkena hama dan penyakit tanaman,” katanya.

“Pemetaan dilakukan menggunakan 3 wahana fixed wing dan bisa memetakan hingga 200 hektar,” imbuh Andi.
