DIKE UGM Selenggarakan DCSEminar #6 dengan Topik Edge Intelligence Systems

Yogyakarta, 11 Juli 2025 – Departemen Ilmu Komputer dan Elektronika (DIKE) FMIPA UGM kembali menyelenggarakan DCSEminar seri ke-6 pada Jumat, 11 Juli 2025 dengan mengangkat tema “Edge Intelligence Systems”. Seminar ini diselenggarakan secara daring melalui Zoom dan menghadirkan dua narasumber dari dunia akademik dan industri, yaitu Prof. In Kee Kim dari University of Georgia dan Maulana Yusuf Fathany, M.T., Senior Embedded-System Engineer di Bobobox. Kegiatan ini dipandu oleh dosen DIKE, Muhammad Husni Santriaji, S.Si., M.T., M.S., Ph.D., yang juga menjadi bagian dari kontribusi Lab Riset Sistem Komputer dan Jaringan (SKJ) DIKE dalam menghadirkan diskusi teknologi terkini.

Sesi pertama dibuka oleh Prof. In Kee Kim yang membawakan topik “Toward High-Throughput, Resource-Efficient, and SLO-Aware Edge Intelligence”. Dalam pemaparannya, Prof. Kim menjelaskan bahwa edge computing merepresentasikan pergeseran paradigma dari sistem komputasi terpusat ke sistem terdesentralisasi, dengan pemrosesan data yang dilakukan lebih dekat ke sumber. Pendekatan ini dinilai penting untuk mengurangi latensi, menghemat bandwidth, dan memperkuat perlindungan privasi data.

Prof. Kim juga mengangkat sejumlah tantangan yang dihadapi dalam pengembangan edge AI, seperti keterbatasan sumber daya komputasi, keberagaman perangkat akselerator, serta tuntutan untuk tetap memenuhi Service Level Objectives (SLOs). Sebagai solusi, ia memperkenalkan strategi multi-tenancy, teknik kompresi model, dan sistem penjadwalan cerdas bernama Convergo yang mampu menempatkan beban kerja AI secara efisien di perangkat edge dengan performa beragam.

Sesi kedua dilanjutkan oleh Maulana Yusuf Fathany, M.T. dari Bobobox yang membawakan materi berjudul “Smart Capsule Hotels, Embedded Edge Systems at Bobobox”. Ia membagikan pengalamannya dalam pengembangan sistem embedded untuk hotel kapsul pintar. Maulana memaparkan bagaimana integrasi sensor suhu dan kelembaban, serta sistem reservasi berbasis edge, mampu meningkatkan efisiensi dan responsivitas tanpa ketergantungan penuh pada layanan cloud. 

Sesi diskusi berlangsung interaktif, dengan partisipasi aktif dari mahasiswa dan dosen DIKE. Sejumlah topik yang menarik perhatian peserta antara lain terkait federated learning, pemenuhan SLO pada sistem edge yang bersifat intermiten, serta tantangan inferensi model AI di perangkat dengan sumber daya terbatas. Antusiasme peserta mencerminkan besarnya minat terhadap edge computing yang saat ini semakin relevan dengan pesatnya pertumbuhan IoT dan kebutuhan layanan komputasi real-time.

Melalui DCSEminar ini, DIKE turut mendukung Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs), khususnya SDG 4 (Pendidikan Berkualitas) dengan menghadirkan forum edukatif yang memperkaya wawasan dan keterampilan mahasiswa di bidang teknologi, SDG 9 (Industri, Inovasi, dan Infrastruktur) melalui pengembangan sistem cerdas berbasis edge, serta SDG 17 (Kemitraan untuk Mencapai Tujuan) melalui kolaborasi antara institusi pendidikan dan sektor industri.
