Mahasiswa DIKE UGM Raih Juara 1 di Ajang COMET 6.0

Surabaya, 4 Mei 2025 – Prestasi membanggakan kembali ditorehkan oleh mahasiswa Departemen Ilmu Komputer dan Elektronika (DIKE) UGM. Rizqi Ageng Rinando, yang akrab disapa Rinando, mahasiswa Program Studi Elektronika dan Instrumentasi, berhasil meraih Juara 1 dalam ajang Competition of Maritime Education and Training (COMET) 6.0 yang diselenggarakan oleh Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya (PPNS) pada 2 – 4 Mei 2025 lalu.

Bersama Tim Gamantaray UGM, Rinando berlaga di kategori Fuel Engine Boat Race Competition (FERC), bersaing dengan puluhan tim dari berbagai perguruan tinggi ternama di Indonesia. Ajang COMET 6.0 ini menggunakan sistem knockout 1 lawan 1. Dalam perjalanannya menuju podium juara, Tim Gamantaray berhasil mengalahkan tim dari Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo, Universitas Hang Tuah, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, hingga final melawan Universitas Islam Malang.

Sebelum hari perlombaan, proses panjang dan penuh tantangan telah dilalui oleh tim. Dimulai dari seleksi proposal desain kapal yang original, hingga proses trial sejak awal Februari yang terus dilakukan meski bertepatan dengan bulan puasa dan UTS. Rinando, yang bertanggung jawab atas sistem kelistrikan kapal, juga turut membantu pada aspek mekanik.

“Selama seminggu sebelum lomba, kami bahkan lembur setiap hari dan bahkan menginap di bengkel. Trial dilakukan dua kali sehari, pagi dan sore, walau sempat bentrok dengan kegiatan lain di Wisdom Park UGM,” ujarnya.

Salah satu momen paling berkesan baginya adalah saat perlombaan berlangsung. “Kami hanya bisa mendoakan pilot saat kapal bertanding, rasanya sangat menegangkan. Tapi ketika kapal kami berhasil mencapai garis finis lebih dulu, perasaan haru dan bangga muncul dan bercampur saat itu,” ujarnya.

Motivasi Rinando untuk terlibat dalam tim Gamantaray berdasar dari keinginannya untuk menerapkan ilmu yang diperoleh di bangku kuliah. Ia juga ingin belajar lebih dalam dan membuktikan diri lewat ajang kompetisi bergengsi tingkat nasional seperti COMET.

“Ini adalah pencapaian pertama saya di kampus. Kemenangan ini rasanya sangat luar biasa dan semoga bisa menjadi pembuka yang baik untuk kegiatan-kegiatan saya ke depannya,” ungkap Rinando.

Pencapaian Rinando dan Tim Gamantaray menjadi bukti nyata bahwa kerja keras, semangat kolaborasi, dan ketekunan dapat membawa hasil yang membanggakan. Kemenangan ini tak hanya mengharumkan nama tim, tetapi juga menjadi inspirasi bagi mahasiswa DIKE UGM lainnya untuk terus berkarya dan berprestasi di tingkat nasional maupun international.

Pencapaian ini juga selaras dengan komitmen dalam mendukung Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), khususnya tujuan ke-4 (Quality Education) dan ke-9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure). Melalui keterlibatan mahasiswa dalam riset terapan dan inovasi teknologi, seperti yang dilakukan Tim Gamantaray, UGM mendorong pembelajaran berbasis praktik serta pengembangan infrastruktur teknologi. Kompetisi seperti COMET menjadi wadah strategis untuk menumbuhkan generasi muda yang inovatif, tangguh, dan berkontribusi dalam pembangunan maritim nasional.
