Penelitian Kursi Roda Pintar Mahasiswa DIKE UGM Dipresentasikan di ICCRE 2025 Nagoya, Jepang

Jepang, 11 Mei 2025 – Mahasiswa Program Studi Sarjana Elektronika dan Instrumentasi, Departemen Ilmu Komputer dan Elektronika (DIKE), Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), berhasil menciptakan kursi roda otonom yang mampu bernavigasi secara mandiri dan menghindari tabrakan.

Penelitian yang berjudul “Collision Avoidance for Autonomous Wheelchair Using Integrated SLAM and YOLO” ini merupakan tugas akhir dari mahasiswa Rafael Andika Radya, dengan bimbingan dari Dr. Andi Dharmawan, S.Si., M.Cs. dan Oskar Natan, Ph.D., serta dukungan penuh dari Wahyono, Ph.D.

Kursi roda ini dirancang menggunakan kombinasi teknologi Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) dan You Only Look Once (YOLO), sebuah pendekatan berbasis deep learning untuk deteksi objek secara real-time. SLAM memungkinkan sistem mengenali dan memetakan lingkungan sekitar, sementara YOLO mendeteksi keberadaan rintangan. Hasil integrasi ini memungkinkan kursi roda bergerak secara otonom tanpa menabrak objek di sekitarnya.

Sebagai bagian dari rencana pengembangan ke depan, sistem ini juga diarahkan untuk dapat mengikuti perawat atau pendamping yang berjalan di depannya secara otomatis, sehingga dapat digunakan untuk membantu mobilitas pasien secara mandiri dalam konteks pelayanan kesehatan atau fasilitas publik.

Penelitian ini telah diterima untuk dipresentasikan dalam 2025 10th International Conference on Control and Robotics Engineering (ICCRE 2025) yang diselenggarakan pada bulan Mei 2025 di Nagoya, Jepang. Penelitian Rafael bersama tim pembimbingnya di konferensi tersebut menjadi bukti bahwa karya mahasiswa sarjana UGM memiliki kualitas dan daya saing di panggung internasional.

Selain menjadi capaian akademik, inovasi ini juga membuka peluang besar untuk diterapkan dalam industri teknologi asistif. Proyek ini mencerminkan semangat sivitas akademika UGM dalam mendukung pengembangan infrastruktur berbasis teknologi yang inovatif dan berkelanjutan, serta menjawab kebutuhan masyarakat dengan solusi berbasis riset. Pernelitian ini juga turut serta berkontribusi terhadap Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs), yaitu SDG 3: Kehidupan Sehat dan Sejahtera melalui pengembangan perangkat bantu yang mendukung mobilitas penyandang disabilitas, SDG 4: Pendidikan Berkualitas, yang tercermin dari partisipasi aktif mahasiswa dalam riset unggulan berskala internasional, serta SDG 9: Industri, Inovasi, dan Infrastruktur dengan menciptakan solusi teknologi adaptif dan dapat diterapkan di masyarakat.
