Program Doktor Ilmu Komputer

Pendahuluan 1

Perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi yang sedemikian cepat membutuhkan sumber daya manusia dalam bidang Informatika/Ilmu Komputer yang handal untuk merancang, membuat, dan menangani sistem pengolah informasi dan informasi. Lebih jauh lagi, karena luasnya cakupan untuk bidang Informatika/Ilmu Komputer, serta untuk memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat akan sumber daya manusia dalam bidang tersebut, maka diperlukan institusi yang dapat menyiapkan sumber daya tersebut.

Dengan berkembangnya kemampuan internal (sumber daya manusia, sarana dan prasarana) dan bertambah banyaknya calon mahasiswa yang berminat mengikuti pendidikan yang lebih spesifik maka program studi menyediakan matakuliah-matakuliah dari laboratorium Sistem Cerdas, Komputasi, Rekayasa Perangkat Lunak, Sistem Komputer dan Jaringan, serta Elektronika dan Instrumentasi. Oleh karena itu ada beberapa perubahan pada kurikulum S3 Ilmu Komputer yang dibahas dan disampaikan pada dokumen ini.

Ruang lingkup ilmu Komputer FMIPA UGM

Ilmu Komputer meliputi ruang lingkup yang luas, dari fundamental teoritis dan algoritmis sampai pengembangan terdepan (cutting-edge developments) dalam bidang robotika, computer vision, intelligent systems, bioinformatics, and bidang-bidang lain yang menawan. Bidang kerja ilmuwan ilmu komputer dapat dikategorikan menjadi tiga (Computing Curricula 2005).

  • Merancang dan mengimlementasikan perangkat lunak.

  • Menemukan cara baru untuk mempergunakan komputer. Misalnya, membuat robot menjadi cerdas, memanfaatkan basisdata untuk menciptakan pengetahuan, mengungkap rahasia DNA.

  • Mengembangkan cara yang efektif untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan komputasi. Misalnya, mengembangkan cara terbaik menyimpan data, mengirim data melalui jaringan dan menampilkan citra yang komplek.

Secara garis besar ruang lingkup program doktor ilmu komputer FMIPA UGM bisa dikelompokkan sebagai berikut:

  • Algoritma dan Komputasi (algoritma,metode formal, kriptologi, statistik dan komputasi yang mendukung minat lain)

  • Sistem Cerdas (metoda/algoritma, ketidakpastian, sistem pendukung keputusan, pemrosesan bahasa alami dan perangkat keras/lunak yang memungkinkan suatu system melakukan tindakan secara cerdas)

  • Rekayasa Perangkat Lunak dan Data (penambangan data, komputasi mobile dan cloud, basis data, manajemen informasi, rekayasa perangkat lunak untuk keperluan tertentu)

  • Elektronika dan Instrumentasi (sistem yang dipakai pada pengukuran/deteksi, pemanipulasian/pengolahan sinyal, serta pengolahan dan penampilan besaran-besaran fisis, sistem yang dipakai pada pengukuran/akuisisi data besaran fisis)

  • Sistem Komputer dan Jaringan (perangkat lunak sistem, sistem operasi, piranti keras dan jaringan, keamanan sistem)
